What is Biological Skin Rejuvenation?
It is a concept that the skin can be rejuvenated using biological and natural means. We achieve this goal by using a combination of mesotherapy and laser collagen induction therapy. In this section, is dedicated to the mesotherapy.
What is mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a cosmetic injection technique that uses very tiny needles to inject biologically active skin rejuvenation ingredients into the skin dermis.
What are the active mesotherapy ingredients?
There are various mesotherapy ingredients but to achieve "biological skin rejuvenation". We use a combination of Platelet Rich Plasma and Hyaluronan moisturiser.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet-rich plasma (abbreviation: PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that can stimulate healing of bone and soft tissue. This non-surgical treatment has been shown to be effective in promoting healing and to rejuvenate. In sports medicine and in orthopedic surgery they are currently used extensively to reduce pain, providing long-term relief from osteoarthritis and chronic tendinitis. We use these proven scientific facts and apply it in the field of cosmetic medicine.
This is how we extract PRP.
Blood is taken into a special tube that will help with separation of Platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood.
The blood is placed in the centrifuge.
Blood is centrifuged to separate the Plasma from the rest of the blood (that contains white blood cells and red blood cells). Our Platelet Rich Plasma Centrifuge is a purpose-built centrifuge and it is one of the largest one in the world. This is important as larger the centrifuge, more centrifugal force can be generated to separate the plasma from the blood.
Plasma is decanted into the sterile test tube. The remainder of the blood (White Blood Cells and Red Blood Cells) is discarded. Platelets are suspended inside the plasma and it is invisible at this stage.
Separated plasma is "centrifuged" for the second time to yield platelet. By centrifuging the plasma, the heavier platelets will gravitate down the tube and it is separated from the plasma. This visible portion of platelet is called "buffy coat" and it is removed and injected into the skin to produce "biological skin rejuvenation".
Buffy coat containing platelets are distinctively visible and it can be now used for injection. Our technique in separating the PRP from the blood is complex and it is time-consuming. However, skipping these steps (which is common especially in non-medical clinics) will jeopardise the effectiveness of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy.
Extracted PRP is now mixed with the Hyaluronan. Hyaluronans or commonly known as Hyaluronic Acid is a water-binding molecule. It is basically a hydrogel. It absorbs the water and slowly releases it into the skin so that the skin always have enough moisture. This mixture is then injected into the skin. Hyaluronan will slowly release the growth factors from the platelet and the water so that the skin stays "vital".
How is it injected?
We use a mesogun called "dermaqueen" to inject into the skin. This machine allows multiple injections simultaneously and ensures that the PRP & Moisturiser is accurately placed in the dermis. Deeper injection has been shown to be ineffective.
Does it work?
We love doing them. It is a natural way of maintaining the skin's vitality and ensure that the skin is well moisturised and well nourished.
- It potentiates the effect of Laser skin treatment.
- Improves fine wrinkles and lines as it increases the skin turgor with moisturiser.
- It can prevent and in some cases treat melasma.
- Allows collagen induction of the skin.
It is truly a great "vitamin" for your skin - and it is completely biological.
