Durable Suture Technique (Stitch Double eyelid) in Sydney – Dr Peter Kim
If you are looking for a non-surgical way to create or reshape your double eyelid, you have come to the right place. Let us show you our results.

What is Stitch Double Eyelid Plasty?
Some Asians have a loose connection between the upper eyelid crease and the underlying tarsal plate.
This loose connection can cause loss of double eyelids (monolid) or indistinct double eyelids.
By connecting the upper eyelid skin crease with the underlying tarsal plate, by using sutures, a distinct double eyelid can be created or reshaped. We call these stitches “Durable Sutures”.
What is a Durable Suture Technique?
Dr Peter Kim has developed a technique called Durable Suture Technique. This technique was published in 2012 in the Journal of Cosmetic Surgery & Medicine. It showcased our experience with over 350 consecutive patients treated with the Durable Suture Technique from 2008 to 2011. The technique was shown to be effective in creating or reshaping the double eyelids in Asians.

Who is suitable for the Durable Suture Technique?
Selecting the suitable candidate for the stitch double eyelid plasty is the most important factor in the successful nonsurgical double eyelid procedure.
The best candidates are:
- Younger Asians
- No or minimal excess skin
- Non-puffy eyelids (minimal fat)

What are the benefits of the Durable Suture Technique?
The benefits are:
- it is a non-surgical procedure
- there is no scar
- short downtime and quicker recovery
- quicker and cheaper procedure

What is the procedure involved?
Dr Peter Kim will confirm your instructions about your desired double eyelid shape.
- He will then mark on your skin.
- Local anaesthetic injection give administered.
- Durable Sutures are placed strategically between 3-5 per each upper eyelid.
- We will then sit you up and show you the new double eyelid shape.

What are the complications?
Generally speaking, the complication is rare as it is a nonsurgical procedure. Complication rate is about 2%. One of the more common complications are asymmetry, sutures can open up requiring the insertion of another stitch, and suture granuloma.

How long does the Stich double plasty last?
It is a permanent procedure. That is why it is called durable sutures.
